A year of opportunities

A message from Mawlana to you!

Audhu billahi min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem

Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem

Nawaytu’l-arbay`een, nawaytu’l-`itikaf, nawaytu’l-khalwah, nawaytu’l-riyada, nawaytu’s-saluk, nawaytu’l-`uzlah lillahi ta`ala fi hadha’l-masjid

Ati` Allahu wa ati`ur-Rasul wa ulu’l-amri minkum.

Meded, ya Sayyidi, ya Sultanu-l Awliya, Sayyidee Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al-Haqqani.

First of all I would like to say that Mawlana has asked and ordered me to say to you that he loves you, he is missing you and you are in his heart. And insha-Allah as soon as the weather changes, he will be as usual always with you, always with anyone coming and visiting and always with anyone that he needs an advice.

Sometimes awliyaullah are difficult to understand and wherever you are, wherever we think that we are, a lot of, many years with them, but still it is very difficult to understand a drop of the meaning of a wali.

the Prophet (s)… and as everyone knows that he used to speak with his Sahaba and give them ahadith, sayings, teaching them, delivering the message of Allah Swt - through the Holy Quran and through the Sunnah of the Prophet (s). And as many of you know that not one single Sahabi, means one single Companion, knew everything. What I means to say with everything means, was present at every moment with the Prophet (s), when he was giving advices or teaching. And that s why we see the compilation of ahadithu Nabi (s) as it is; it was being compiled: This Sahabi said this, this Companion said that... this Companion heard this, that Companion heard that from the Prophet (s)... Some of them they heard ten hadith, some of them heard 20, some of them 100, 1000, but in reality that not all of them heard everything at the same time.

That s why Sahaba, sometimes some of them they say: Oh, we didn’t hear that. They used to have these arguments; I am not going to explain it in detail, but they used to have these arguments between themselves, that (one of them said): I didn’t hear that or the other one said: No, I heard it , and the other one said: No, I didn’t hear it. And different ahadith. It changes from one to one, not all of them heard it. - If you heard something, I didn’t hear it, I might tell you: Oh, I didn’t hear that. You might tell me: No, I didn’t hear that.

So there will be a situation that after the time of the Prophet (s), there were the Sahaba, the Companions, and after the Companions there was the compiling of the ahadith, to bring them together and to compile them. And Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, if you want to give an example, small example: He mentioned 24 or 25 ahadith. That s it; he didn’t mention more than that, although he was the (one) very close to Prophet, when Allah mentioned in Holy Quran about Sayyidina Abu Bakr as-Siddiq Radiallahu anhu, where He said:

Illa tansuroohu faqad nasarahu Allahu idh akhrajahu alladheena kafaroo thaniya ithnayni ith huma fi’l-ghaari idh yaqoolu li-saahibihi la tahzan inna Allaha ma`ana fa-anzala Allahu sakeenatahu `alayhi wa ayyadahu bi-junoodin lam tarawha wa ja`ala kalimata alladheena kafaroo as-sufla wa kalimatullahi hiya al`ulya w’Allahu `azeezun Hakeem.

If ye help not (your leader), (it is no matter): for Allah did indeed help him, when the Unbelievers drove him out: he had no more than one companion; they two were in the cave, and he said to his companion, "Have no fear, for Allah is with us": then Allah sent down His peace upon him, and strengthened him with forces which ye saw not, and humbled to the depths the word of the Unbelievers. But the word of Allah is exalted to the heights: for Allah is Exalted in might, Wise. [Tawbah, 9:40]

The Prophet (s) is saying to Sayyidina Abu Bakr, “Don’t be sad, Allah is with us.” And what he said? 24 or 25 ahadith he related! Where are the other ahadith?

So what I want to say and come to the conclusion is that awliyaullah, it is very difficult to understand them. You might hear something; I might hear something. It depends what time and at that time, at that moment, where he was, in which level of ascension with the Prophet (s) he was and he said that advice.

If you look at the ahadith of the Prophet (s), you see (that) one hadith says something, the other hadith comes in more detail that it was not mentioned in the first time. Why? Because first time the Prophet (s) for example was speaking from this level - lets say level X. Next time, when he was ascending more and more, he was speaking from level Z. So from this level to this level the hadith will increase or might change. It depends on the time and the situation.

And this is where it is very important to understand awliyaullah because they are inheritors of the Prophet (s). How to understand them, when they say something and then, in another time, they say the same thing, but in more detail or they might change it? And then you become thinking “Oh, what he meant?” You say, “What he meant?” The other one heard it differently, he says, “Oh no, it is what he meant this way.” That is why not everyone can understand a wali! We cannot understand from awliyaullah even a drop of their knowledge.

I was coming and he said to me, “Send my love and support. Tell them about I love them and I support them.” So what does that mean? It is an ocean, when he is saying, “I love them and I support them.”

Allah said in Holy Quran to the People of the Cave:

When ye turn away from them and the things they worship other than Allah, betake yourselves to the Cave: Your Lord will shower His mercies on you and disposes of your affair towards comfort and ease." Al-Kahf [18:16]

They were debating:, "Where we have to run?" and the advice came, "Run to that cave! Run to that cave!" Allah swt, in that cave Allah sws is going to manifest His Mercy on you. Regardless of what you are doing, Allah will send His Mercy on you and He will adjust and show you his guidance, the way. So when Mawlana said, “Say to them I love them, I support them,” it means, we are in his cave! He is that cave that we run to.

For us that cave is like today you want to look at GoogleMaps for skies or you want to go to Google to see any building on earth - what you do? You check: you give the address and then shows you an area, but it is so huge, so you want to zoom in, in order to see more closer, to where you want, what you want to see. Awliyaullah, when you zoom in, when they speak and you enter their cave, if you are entering with complete belief, you can zoom in, because they will zoom you into the presence of the Prophet (s). As much as they show you that zooming in, as much as you are reaching and approaching the presence of the Prophet (s).

Is not so easy to zoom in - it is very difficult. A wali has to carry the responsibility of his students in order to zoom him into the presence of the Prophet (s). And the Prophet (s) has to carry the responsibility and the difficulty of the Ummah, in order to zoom them in into the Divine Presence.

When he said, “Send my love to them,” it means: If someone loves someone it means he will take care of him or her. If you love your child, you take care of your child. You cannot say: O, I love my child, and when he is sick you say, “I don t care.” No, you keep up all night to take care of your child. We are children in the eyes of awliya. Even we have big long beard, we have a black beard, we have a white beard, we have a red beard... still we are children in the eyes of awliyaullah; they have to carry our problems and our difficulties.

One time Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said, that the wali is in need for his students. If there are no students, there is no wali. He is saying that to show how much the wali carries responsibility. He said: Why a wali to be a wali, if he doesn’t have students, disciples? The disciples make the wali to... Allah to open on his heart, whatever they need to hear and whatever they need, in order to improve and move on, forward. That is why it is very important that a wali, when he speaks, he is reaching the hearts of his students And we have to be very attentive, because he is carrying us; because he is opening. If we don t open our heart to receive from him, we are in problems. He is not in problems, we will be in problems.

One day Sayyidina Abdul Qadir Jilani, may Allah bless his soul, has a khalifa and that khalifa was an old person and he was not really `alim; he was, how we say? Self-learned. And he was learning from Sayyidina Abdul Qadir Jilani humbleness . Because in tariqah the most important issue is humbleness If we don t have humbleness, we must look for it and try to learn it and try to practice it. Humbleness is necessary. Humbleness means: you don t give an excuse to your ego for pride, you don t let (your) ego to get proud of itself. The Prophet (s) was the most humble. What Allah said about him in Holy Quran? Because Prophet was looking at these Oceans of Knowledge that Allah opened to him in his night of Isra wa-l Miraj:

قُل لَّوْ كَانَ الْبَحْرُ مِدَادًا لِّكَلِمَاتِ رَبِّي لَنَفِدَ الْبَحْرُ قَبْلَ أَن تَنفَدَ كَلِمَاتُ رَبِّي وَلَوْ جِئْنَا بِمِثْلِهِ مَدَدًا

Qul law kaana al-bahru midadan li-kalimaati rabbee la-nafida al-bahru qabla an tanfada kalimaatu rabbee wa law ji’na bi-mithlihi madada

Say: "If the ocean were ink (wherewith to write out) the words of my Lord, sooner would the ocean be exhausted than would the words of my Lord, even if we added another ocean like it, for its aid." [Kahf, 18:109]

When he saw those Oceans of Knowledge he said:

قُلْ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْ يُوحَى إِلَيَّ

Qul: Innama ana basharun mithlukum yuhaa ilaya. Say: "I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the inspiration has come to me….." [Kahf, 18:110]

The Prophet (s) says about himself: “I am only a human being like the rest.” He is different!

Like Imam Busairi (said). What did he say? “Bal huwa yakutatun wa naasu ka-l hajari - He is a gem, a diamond, and human beings are like pebbles, rocks!” He is completely different, but he was humbling himself. He went into Isra wa’l-Mir`aj, he made himself more humble. So our duty is to show humbleness to each other. It s not only to show humbleness to the shaykh, it is easy to show humbleness to the shaykh, but it is difficult to show humbleness to each other.

So that khalifa of Sayyidina Abdul Qadir Jilani, whenever Sayyidina Abdul Qadir Jilani sent him to speak in different villages or in different associations, he sat and spoke (and) everyone, as soon as he opened his mouth to speak, people were listening, they were very... their eyes were open. Not like me and some other people when Mawlana speaks - we sleep! People divert their minds different ways... But everyone was listening, even you throw a pin, you can hear it.

That Shaykh had a son, but his son was very educated in Islamic Shariah. Explanation of Holy Quran, explanation of Holy hadith, memorizing the Holy Quran, memorizing the hadith, knows every details in Shariah. He was looking to himself. Every time his shaykh, who was his father, sat and spoke, people are listening and he, in his heart, was saying, “O, what about me if I speak? Of course, I am more educated than my father, then everyone will be not only opening his eyes, but opening his eyes and his heart to what I will say and people will appreciate what I say!”

So his father knew that this is the sickness of his son, so what he did? He said, “O my son!” next week that came - “I am sick this week. You go and speak! Go and give the people a suhbat.” He was so happy, he didn’t believe that he is going to give a suhba to people. He went and sat on the chair of his father and the father was in the other room, hiding himself, looking what’s going to happen. As soon as that son was beginning to speak - he is `alim, very big `alim in his time - like when we go to conferences - I go a lot and I see that - the professor or the presenter is giving a presentation and most of the audience is sleeping. No one is listening, they get bored. So why do they get bored? There is a secret here.

And the secret in this story is that the son, big `alim, big professor - there is no professor at that time, but he is an `alim - and as soon as he began to speak, everyone was sleeping. So he was speaking and speaking and speaking and looking and saw: most of the people were sleeping. He was so surprised. He finished as soon as possible quickly and went to his father. He said: O my father, what s going on? I am more educated than you, I know more than you. When I spoke, everyone slept. When you speak, everyone is open eyes and open heart. What s going on? He said, “O my son! That is the problem of today’s scholars at that time - they are proud of themselves, they are arrogant of themselves. When I sit to speak, the message that I am delivering to everyone, is coming from the heart of Sayyidina Muhammad (s). So when I am speaking, I have to be the first listener to what I am saying. I am the first student sitting there; I don t see myself as the representative and I don’t see myself as the `alim; I see myself the least among everyone, the lower between everyone. That is the humbleness that it should be experienced, when you are going to give your speech or you will make everyone bored.”

So when we zoom in with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim s speech, when he is speaking to us, we have to make sure, that our eyes and ears and heart are open, because we are not sitting in their presence only. At that moment their presence is the presence of the Prophet (s). How we have to be sitting? How Sahaba were sitting in the presence of the Prophet (s), student has to sit, to imitate that way. Although no one can reach the level of Sahaba and the wali cannot reach the level of the Prophet (s). But we have to imitate their ways, in order that we will be able to reach, what they want us to reach.

And that s why I said one time before here that: Anyone entered the cave, is safe. When you enter the presence of Mawlana Shaykh s cave, we are safe. That s why I said last time about Grandshaykh. When he was asked to carry the guidance, irshad . He said to Shaykh Sharafuddin - I am cutting it short - he said to his shaykh, “What is the benefit of I take the khilafa from you and I know my students are not going to do anything? They are going to be lazy; they are not going to do, except their prayers and that s it! So if you give me the authority that anyone sitting in my presence I will raise him to my level, then I will accept irshad!”

That is a good tiding for all of us: that this secret is with Mawlana Sultanu’l-Awliya Sayyidee Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Adil al Haqqani - may Allah swt give him long life.

When we are sitting in his presence, he is lifting us is like a lift. They are lifting their students up to their levels. Don’t think the shaykh will accept someone will be in the hand of Shaytan chained. Like a general in the army cannot let one of his soldiers to be prisoner in the hand of the enemies, awliyaullah will not allow their students to be prisoners in the hands of Shaytan. The Prophet (s) will not allow his Ummah to be prisoners in the hands of Shaytan. Allah swt will not allow one of His servants to be prisoner in the hands of Shaytan. That is why Ummatun-Nabi (s) ummatu marhouma, will be sent to Paradise!

So he said, “I sent them my love,” which means, “I take care of them. Tell them not to worry. And I give them my support.” It means we are supported. There are many people they say that Mawlana is sick, we don’t need to come. No, come, if your heart says to you, “Come!” It is enough to come to the maqam. The maqam is... his presence is here, it cannot be away. Allah swt honored us to be from Mawlana’s followers and from Ummatun-Nabi (s).

He said also, “Tell them that this is a year of opportunities.” What does it mean “year of opportunities”? A year of opportunities means “Don’t let any opportunity to pass without taking advantage of it.” That is why they use that word too much in the financial world, brokers, stock-market – opportunities. It means, “Don’t let a stock that you can see there is a benefit from it, it is an opportunity, grab it!”

“This year is the year of trading” he said, “with Allah swt, because it is a year full with problems, full of revenge and punishment.” So it is a year of opportunities for those who are humbling themselves; those who are doing their awraad; those who are praying their prayers; those who are trying to elevate themselves against the desire of their egos! Those are these opportunities! Don’t let these opportunities to be lost, especially this year! And he said, “This year is going to be a very heavy year on evil powers and easy year on believers!”

May Allah swt keep us and make us believers with the baraka of our shaykh, Shaykh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, and with the blessings of Sayyidina Muhammad `alayhi afdala as-salaat was-salaam.

Argument extinguishes the light of the heart

Mawlana Shaykh Hisham Kabbani | Saturday, Jan 10, 2009 | Fenton, MI US

Audhu billah min ash-shaytan ir-rajeem

Bismillahi 'r-Rahmani 'r-Raheem

Nawaytu'l-arba`een, nawaytu'l-`itikaaf, nawaytu'l-khalwah, nawaytu'l-riyaada, nawaytu's-salook, nawaytu'l-`uzlah lillahi ta`ala fee hadha'l-masjid

Ati` Allah wa ati` ar-rasula wa uli 'l-amri minkum

I remember when we were your age, we used to go to drive for many many hours, snow or rain, to reach Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, or Mawlana Shaykh Nazim Adil al-Haqqani may Allah give him long life, to sit and listen to some of their advices.

And to what they are going to guide us for. I see that masha-Allah Allah swt gave you also this kind of guidance, that driving and coming snow or rain, in order to come to get what? To come and get some advice and go.

And these advices that we try to speak about is.. they are from knowledge that Allah gave to awliyaullah to their hearts and they convey it to us and we are trying to explain it.

I want to make another time sure that you can understand that your coming here is not for wasting time, but Allah swt wit his mercy, you don’t know what He is rewarding those who are coming, leaving behind their homes, their families, their work, coming for 1,2 hours listening and going back, don’t think that will go without a reward and these rewards cannot be explained. Because it is not in the hands of anyone it is in the hands of the prophet of what Allah reveals to him of the rewards that he is giving to those sitting and remembering him in such associations. Many difficulties will be taken way from those who are coming leaving behind dunya and coming and listening to something for akhira and also they will be appointed for them angels that will take care of them and this will be the responsibility of that wali that will look after those people and that wali is one of the 5 qutbs that takes care of those people who leave their dunya for their akhira.

We hop that Allah swt will grant us to be with His awliya and with His qutbs that are supporting every step we are going forward. Allah’s Siffaat, characteristics are not like human characteristics. Allah swt His Siffat, his characters are something that are beyond our understanding. Our characters are molded with dunya stuff that makes everything a soup.

Mawlana may Allah give him long life said that characteristics of human beings and their behaviors and their manners are sometimes, not sometimes, but most of the time, are very heavy on each other. People might not like each other because of their behaviours. Because everyone think himself or herself that he is better than the other. Everyone thinks he is higher than the other. Everyone doesn’t like what the other is doing because he is himself or herself, their egoes will never accept the others. They want only what they like to be done and to be accepted. And what the others are saying they don’t like it.

Our behaviours are what point to our levels. Look at yourself and see your shortcomings. You will find a lot of them, but still with all your shortcomings you go and you try to advise someone else although it is better for you to advise yourself first. We go and try to give advices to the others when we ourselves need these advices but because of our arrogance and pride we cannot accept that although we know we have shortcomings we cannot accept to put our head down and accept what others are saying. This is one of the main bad ego characters that is delaying from reaching the stations that awliyaullah are trying to pull us to.

People say why I cannot see, why I cannot see kashf visions, why I cannot have this or that hwy I have this problem or that problem because we are not trying to humble ourselves. We are trying to be other than ourselves, there is a word I like it in English, when I hear it: they say “be yourself.” It means don’t be someone else. It means don’t pretend to be someone else. If you are not happy with yourself and you try to be someone else then why you don’t try to uplift yourself in order to be someone else. Whey don’t you come against your shortcomings and become better disciplined person. So our characters and manners point to our personalities.

If you want to understand someone look to what he says or what he speaks. That is why they have these what you call them, not psychiatrists, but psychologist, you go and speak with them. They call them counselors. What is counselor? [u speak to someone about your problem and they have to analyse they want to give advice.] and they need someone to council someone. They have already lost their minds. We are going to council with them about our problems. Why not go and counsel with the Prophet (s). why not go and council in Divine Presence and ask Allah swt. Why you don’t go and council with awliyaullah .no, but because this one is a counselor who has cert. firm a university

Ah, awliyaullah have certificates from the prophet. The Prophet (s) is authorized from Allah swt. Which is better? Allah said in Holy Qur'an when they are oppressors to themselves or they need counseling, let them go to you, Ya Muhammad (s).

" wa law annahum idh dhalamu anfusahum jaa'ooka f ’astaghfirullaha w’astaghfaralahum ar-Rasul la-wajad-Allah tawaaban raheema"

"And if they had come to thee when they had wronged their souls, and asked forgiveness of Allah, and if the Messenger had also asked forgiveness for them, they would have

surely found Allah Oft-Returning with compassion and Merciful." [an-Nisa, 64]

They come to the Prophet (s); to his door and ask forgiveness. And forgiveness has many meanings. Wa law annahum idh… oppressors to themselves has many meanings. It is not necessarily they did something bad, they oppressed themselves by not understanding themselves. They don’t understand their manners, their behaviours, they get sad quickly they get emotional. What they have to do? They have to come to you, Ya Muhammad (s).

And ask forgiveness. Forgiveness here means “Ya Rabbee I am coming to Your door, asking guidance.”

When you repent and ask forgiveness what does it mean? It means he has been guided and directed to the Divine Presence. There the Prophet (s) will guide and counsel them. If they go to the Prophet (s) what are they doing? They are counseling with the Prophet (s) why they have to go and waste their money? Never mind they waste their money, but they go to those counselors and speak with them, what are they going to give them? They give their opinions. They might be correct or might be wrong. You go and reveal yourself to that foreigner who doesn’t know anything about your background, your religion, your culture revealing everything. What is the benefit. Go to Allah fa firru ila-Allah - Run to Allah. Fa firru il Allah when you run to Allah will He close His door? Allah’s characteristics is not like us. His behavior is mercy. His Beautiful Names and Attributes describe Him as He is the merciful; He is the one that accepts everyone; forgive everyone, guide everyone.

إِنَّكَ لَا تَهْدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ يَهْدِي مَن يَشَاء وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِالْمُهْتَدِينَ

Innaka la tahdee man ahbabta wa lakinna Allaha yahdee man yasha’u wa huwa a`lamu bil-muhtadeena

It is true thou wilt not be able to guide every one, whom thou lovest; but Allah guides those whom He will and He knows best those who receive guidance. Al-Qasas [28:56]

Allah will guide whom He likes. But run to Him.

We are not running. We are sitting and saying, “I have a problem.” “What is your problem?” “I don’t like the way I am living.” “What do you want?” “I want to be this or I want to be that. I don’t like to be with my parents.” “Where you want to be.” “I like to be by myself.”

Go, try.

La tukthir li-hammik, ma quddir yakoon… don’t make too much problems to yourself, what Allah wants is going to happen you cannot change it. Don’t go to this or that one, they cannot change it. It can only be changed by door Allah opened for us.

وَابْتَغُواْ إِلَيهِ الْوَسِيلَةَ

Wabtaghaw ilayhi al-waseela – “Seek a means to him.” Al-Mai’dah 5:35

If it is a problem of work, you seek a means of those who know that kind of work. But if it is a spiritual problem within yourself then you have to seek the means of waliullah and the Prophet (s). wabtaghaw ilayhi al-waseela. You have to seek the means to him, Allah opened way. But we are not accepting these way and not looking at these ways and try to solve according to our own understanding and not accepting advice from elders. That is problem we are facing today, problem between parents and children, wives and husband. Then at end when they cannot solve the problem what do they say? Go and with your wife and see counselor. Or go with your son, and counsel. What happens? Nothing - you will be worse.

Allah swt Allah doesn’t hate His servant. From our behavior we hate each other. Allah swt doesn’t hate His servants. We hate each other. We have problems with each other, with father, mother, sister and brother. Allah is not like us.

لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ وَلَئِن

Wa lain shakartum la azeeadanakum.

If ye are grateful, I will add more (favours) unto you; 14:7

It means I will change everything that you are not happy with it but ask me. But we are not asking. We are asking whom? The counselor. We are asking the counselor what we have to do. Allah does not get frustrated, he is patient. His name is as-Saboor the last Beautiful Names and Attributes. The Absolute Patient One. When someone is patient in dunya, a servant, they say, "This servant is patient what ever you try to make him angry he will not,” then they go and speak with him.

What about the One who created that one and put in his heart patience. Allah swt is the Most Patient. That means whatever you do wrong, He is patient. Go and ask, He will forgive.

One time Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, said, "Allah said, ‘Ya Muhammad (s). Why are you worried about your ummah? I gave you a nation that will not stop doing sins. Every step they are making a sin.’”

All of us are like that. Don’t say, "this one doesn't make any, this one makes.” No all of us. “And I am their Lord who created them, they don’t get tired of doing sins and I don’t get tired of forgiving them. I gave you an ummah already forgiven, already blessed. Don’t worry about it. I am their Lord, I created them and I gave them to you. I don’t know what they ar going to do in dunya? All of us have shortcomings Allah doesn’t know we have shortcomings. That is why Allah said to the Prophet (s), "O Muhammad! I gave you an ummah that doesn’t get tired of making sins and I don’t get tired of forgiving them.”

This is our ummah today. But Allah doesn’t like anyone to kill someone with no reason. Anything you do but don’t kill. Don’t make bloodshed on earth. Allah does not like bloodshed. If someone kills one person it is as if he killed everyone. If someone saved one person as if he saved everyone. Allah will reward him. So if you save someone from bloodshed of shaytan, as shaytan is trying to slaughter and kill us. There is a satanic bloodshed not blood shed of fighting each other. There is a spiritual fight also. Allah doesn’t like spiritual blood shed. What does that mean? Fitna, backbiting, namima, Allah does not like these bad characters. If you do sin you do sin, Allah will forgive you. but if you make ghiba and namima Allah will forgive you if that person you spoke about forgives you. If you spoke bad about someone Allah will forgive you if that person forgives you that is big. If I speak bad about someone that one might not forgive you. that is a problem. You cannot be forgiven if that person doesn’t say, "Ya Rabbee, I forgive him. I don’t want …? That is why when prophet point to one sahabi, and said this one is going to Paradise with no account. So Sayyidina `Umar (r) followed that one to his house to see what he is doing extra. He stayed and followed him for three days and found he doesn’t do anything extra than any other Sahaba do. After three days he asked him, "O my brother, the Prophet (s) said you are one of the people of Paradise. And I am staying with you for three days and I am not seeing you anything different than all of us, of extra prayers or fasting.” He said, "Ya `Umar (r). I don’t do anything extra. But before I go to sleep, I forgive anyone who harmed me. Anyone spoke bad about me or made rumors about me, I forgive him.”

So that backbiting or spreading rumors that are not right, Allah doesn’t not like that. But if you do a sin or try to fight, Allah will forgive you. It is coming back. Allah is the Forgiver.

But backbiting, no, you have to go back to that person and ask him to forgive you. You have to be very careful of that.

Allah’s mercy is so huge that no one can describe it except in a few words, as Mawlana said, "that if there was no rahmat on earth if Allah didn’t manifest his mercy on earth earth will be like Mars or like Venus, or like whatever planets, no life. We don’t know if there is life there or not but if we went to take it generally. It means there will be no nature no life, no water, no nature, everything will disappear. That is why Allah’s mercy is big. So if you have a problem go to Him, “Ya Allah you are the arham ar-rahimeen ihdina at tareeq al-mustaqeem. If You don’t guide us who is going to guide us? Counselors?”

You have a counselor? You counsel with whom? With yourself?

Allah swt he is the One who will open his door to everyone. Come to the homes from their doors - abwaabiha. Don’t go through the window; you cannot jump it is dangerous. Allah swt said in Holy Qur'an, “If you want to come to yourself to your heart, to your inn, to see Allah and His Prophet there you feel His light and the Divine Presence there, go through the door. And My door is the Prophet (s).”

May Allah swt guide us to His door. And don’t take us right or left because we are weak servants.”

Too many people today are lost they don’t know what to do. Too much dhulmah. Darkness. You cannot see, it means you cannot know what to do. It is too much darkness as if curtains over all the doors and windows; it is dark in layer and layers you cannot see the light. When we are in darkness we don’t know what to do that is why we are lost. The only thing we have to do is to keep Allah’s Presence in our heart and the Prophet’s presence in our heart by saying la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah.

Rabbana taqabal minna bi hurmatil man anzalta alayhi suratul Fatiha.

Today you see people mutaraddiddeen - hesitating. They cannot see the light, where to go. I dot this or I do that. They don’t know what to do. Too much problems and negative energy. Too much spiritual pollutions. They look after pollution of earth but they don’t look after the pollution of themselves. they study pollution of the earth and the environment. But you cannot study the pollution of yourself. You need such spiritual classes to understand the pollution of yourself. And this you must spend time. You cannot just come one time per year. You must spend regular time, coming for long time months and months then you find solution to your problems.

Wa min Allah at-tawfeeq bi-hurmati 'l-Fatiha

Anyone’s heart is clean, Allah makes him successful.

Oh kid! It's not enough to say La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasul Allah

Allah swt sending for us all kinds of messages, thru his messengers and thru the Seal of Prophets and messenger, Sayyidina Muhammad, who has, the Prophet (s) has made sure that there are people whom Allah loves them and they love Allah that they carry continuously the message of Sayyidina Muhammad tilt he day of judgment.

O Muslims! Awliyaullah are trying their best to make sure that the message of action, not the message only of “qeel wa qaal – this one said this and this one said that.” No they want action.

You can hear that word too much, “Action!” Where do you hear it? In the movies. Why do they use that word “action”. Why they don’t keep talking? You hear that too much “action”. Who says that? The director. So any director in the spiritual realm teaches actions. Prophet wants them teach actions. And Allah wants from his prophet to make sure the Ummah do actions in their lives. Without actions there is nothing. You did action, you came here. If you didn’t do that action you would be staying at home.

So what they want to tell us today is that don’t only make your concern what you eat and what you drink. What you eat and what you drink is the action fro your body. But remember o my servant that there must be action for your soul. There must be something that will fill up your soul that will give it energy and change the batteries. If you don’t charge them the batteries will slowly begin to die and then “there is no benefit at that time to regret - La yanfa` al-nadm.” Regret is over. You are going to face a hard time.

Don’t say, I say, “la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah, Ya Ghulam!! O kid!" “O child.”

“Don’t think if you say la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah it is enough. It is not enough.”

O why he is saying like that!? Why that wali, that Grandshaykh is saying that? Because we know that whoever says la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah illa-Allah will enter Paradise. Why is he saying, “that is not enough”? Because he doesn’t want you to enter Paradise. Because prophet said, “whoever says la ilaha illa-Allah” and of course “muhammadun Rasulullah” will enter Paradise. He doesn’t want you to enter Paradise. That is not enough.

There is a big meaning here. Whoever says la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah. will enter Paradise, but which paradise? Prophet is giving you the limit. Of course if you say kalimat at-tawheed you will enter Paradise, but which paradise? But if you say la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah, and say something else with it you will be in the paradise with the Prophet (s) and siddiqeen and shuhada and saliheen, and you will be in the higher level, not in the lower level. That is why we always pray that “O Allah put us in paradise with Your Prophet (s). We don’t want to be away.”

So what do you have to add? You have to add to iman, faith, qawlan wa `amal. Faith is not only theories - it is action. You have to show action. No action, then no movie. Your life is a movie. One day it is going to be closed. But your akhira is a reality. When you do action for akhira it is not only a movie but it is going to be continuing forever and every moment you are ascending to a higher paradise and higher paradise and higher paradise. So don’t think when you go to paradise these paradises are not ascending. No, they are ascending in higher and higher levels. When you are with the Prophet (s) then you are ascending with him. And what we are saying now is theory, but it is real theory. You have to show action.

Allah says, “O My servant!” to us. And the Prophet (s) says, “O my nation!” to us, [meaning] “those who believe in me.” And awliyaullah says, “O kid!” We are all servants. So Allah swt calls us servants. We are all from ummat an-Nabi (s), so the Prophet (s) calls us ummat. And awliyaullah call us “Ya Ghulam!! O kid!” They teach us day to day and know our reality.

Don’t come to Allah swt with sins and ma`siyyya and zallaat. Zal al-lisan means “the tongue slipped.” Don’t slip and come to us with forbiddens.

If you left behind your prayers and your fastings and your actions and you are coming to Me with forbiddens and sins, don’t expect you are going to be in a continuous action. Until you repent.

So if you want to acquire a higher level come with actions. And these actions are what?

A man came to the Prophet (s) and said, " ya Rasulullah, I love Allah.” Do you love Allah. [insha-Allah] do you love Allah swt?

Then what did the Prophet (s) say? Ittakhidh lil-bala’i jilbaban. A man came to the Prophet (s) and said, " I love Allah.” He said, "Ok make from afflictions a jubbah.” Ittakhidh lil bala’i jilbaban. Bala’an he described as a piece of cloth. And what do you do with a piece of cloth? You dress it. So prepare yourself with whatever afflictions come to you from Allah, be patient. Bala. The Prophet (s) was patient on the abuse of his tribe. Be patient from those who harm you. Don’t say this and that about them. Carry the responsibility in front of Allah swt. [Say:] “Whatever obstacles are there, Ya Rabbee, I am continuing.”

Or else if you don’t be patient on afflictions, on bala, when you say la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah illa-Allah muhammadun Rasulullah it is only by tongue it is not by reality.

A man came to the Prophet (s) and said, "O prophet I love you.” The first one came and said, " “I love Allah” and the Prophet (s) said, " take affliction as your robe.” He said, "asta’id lil faqri jilbaban - Prepare for poverty to be a dress for you.”

It means don’t be bankrupted from Allah’s mercy. Because everyone thinks faqr is what? It is for someone to be poor. These awliyaullah are not poor, they are rich. It is not richness of wealth. It is the richness of knowledge. He said, "Prepare to be poor and dress the dress of poverty.” That means always show to your Lord that you need more from his blessing and from ma`rifatullah. Of good character show that you have nothing and you are asking for more and for more and for more. Then when you show that Allah is al-Ghani, we are the poor. It means poor to reach that eternal to be in that ocean of eternal love and blessings. That is what you need, the tajallis of Jamal and Jalaal - the manifestation of [Divine] Beauty and Majesty. Then you are rich. Then form poverty, Allah makes you rich. As much as you are rich, still you are poor, in relation to Allah’s greatness.

Who is not poor. It is only one, Sayyidina Muhammad whom Allah raised him and said, “I perfected you, Ya Muhammad!” وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلى خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ wa innaka la-`ala khuluqin `adheem - You are of trememdous highly character.

So don’t come with la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah with no action. If no action you will go to where you came from, at the first level in paradise you will stay.

Allah doesn’t accept qawlan bila `amal- a statement without action. What is the action? It is imtithal al-amr wa intiha `an il-munkar - to submit to the order. It means to be ready for any order that comes to submit to it immediately and to try to stop yourself from falling into the tricks of shaytaan. The tricks of shaytan are too many. He tricks you in every moment of your life and Allah swt is observing you how you are not going to listen to what shaytan is saying.

O Muslims! O believers! Those who are going to win are those who are going to be patient. Poverty and patience, come together in the heart of a believer.

Don’t be proud. To be poor means not to be poor, but be happy with what Allah is giving. Al-muhiboon mubtaloon.if you are really a believers, really believers face a lot of problems. Now today in the way that people are holding tight to their religion, what happened to them. They face a lot of problems. If you have a beard what happened to you. Go to a Muslim country, if you have a beard they stop you and question you: “Why you have a beard?” “O Allah gave me a beard. What can I do? I don’t have a razor.” “No you have to have a razor.” “No I don’t want a razor.” “No, you have to have a razor, else you are a terrorist.”

Everyone who has a beard, becomes in eyes of people disgusting. Why Allah made us to have a beard? To shave it or leave it?

So a believer is afflicted. Wherever you turn your face, from one problem you try to run out from that problem, another problem comes.

But if you be patient, Allah will inspire you. Allah will love you. Allah will give you. So don’t expect a gift from people. But wait for the gift that comes from heaven. The gifts that come from heaven are too many but our duty is to wait in order to get it. You cannot be lajuj, insisting, "O where is my gift? Where is my gift?” You are not worshipping for a gift. Allah wants to give, He gives. Allah said,

وَلِلَّهِ الْعِزَّةُ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

" all-`izzatu lillahi wa li rasulihi wa l’il-mumineen.- But honour belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and to the Believers.” [63:8]

So He promised that. Therefore wait for it.

Not like Sayyidina Musa, saying “when, when?” It took 40 years to get rid of Fira`un. Since he asked, if he had not asked it would have taken one moment.

Prophet never asked anything. When you nag, you are nagging, then people get upset with you. What do you think about Allah swt. Submit to him. Don’t be nagging, like this one.

Huh?

O corrupted! He is speaking to whom, he is saying “O corrupted!” He is speaking to his people. If we say now “O corrupted!” everyone will run away. Grandshaykh said, " “When a wali says to his student “O corrupted”, "O backbiter!” or anything, or “O cheater”, then he is taking that bad character away. He doesn't say it to humiliate you but he is saying it to get it out of you by their power. He says it in front of people in order you will be feeling that humiliation, but in reality he wants you to be humiliated in dunya not in akhira. So he takes that bad characters from you. Because every one of these students is a scholar, everyone is a big balloon, full of air. You see big, flying these scholars. So he wants to take that bad character out of their heart, that arrogance, that pride. O corrupted, don’t sit wit believes!

Why? He wants them to be pure to sit with believes. Al-jins m`a al-jins. Gender with gender. Same element with same element. You cannot mix apples and oranges. You cannot put water with juice but must be water with water. You put believers with believers, corrupted with corrupted. O corrupted that you are looking at me. Ayyuha ’l-fasiq! Ittaqi ’l-mumin - Beware of that believer that sits besides you. La tadkhul ma`hu wa anta mulawis ma` al-ma`asi - Don’t come and sit with him and you re polluted with sins because there is going to be reflection.

How they know that, 1000 years ago, that there is pollution? They think that modern science found pollution. But from back then awliyaullah know about negative and positive energy. Ayyuha ’l-fasiq is negative energy and corrupt energy. He is speaking to the spirits of these people. The Prophet (s) said,

اتقوا فراسة المؤمن، فإنه ينظر بنور الله‏.‏ ‏(‏ أخرجه ابن عبد البر في كتاب جامع بيان العلم وفضله ج سنة 196 ‏)

“Ittaqoo firasat al-mumin fa innahu yandhuru bi-nurillah - Beware of the vision of the believer, for truly he sees with the light of Allah.” You cannot hide, they see everyone they look at you they see you and he hears and how much you are lying in front of them. You sit like a lamb and you are a fox.

You see a lamb, grazing, but they see you from behind the veil, looking at the heart, you are a hyena eating the carcasses of the people. That is why don’t sit in front of a wali too much, run away. That is because you are corrupted. You sit in front of them you are polluting them. But awliyaullah they have char. That whatever bad character, Negative character, you come with they swallow into their ocean and dilute it. Anything come it becomes so dilute that it doesn’t show anymore.

He said, "Don’t sit among believers and pollute them with your forbiddens and your sins and make them like you but come and sit with them with a clean heart.”

You are a blind person. You are a blind one. You don’t know that awliyaullah can’t see your heart. You are trying to come to them showing them that you are praying and fasting to show you are good. No, they know your heart.

When the Prophet (s) asked the Sahaba, “Who is the poor one, the bankrupted one – man al-muflis?” They said, "The one who has no wealth. He said, " no the bankrupt one is the one with no `amal.” The are the ones who have no `amal, they hide their personality. They are like hyenas and wolves they want to eat everyone; they are blind. If you are blind what do you need to do? Some people come to eye doctors and say, “we cannot see.” He says, “Ok, take these eyeglasses and you can see now.”

And some people come and even with eyeglasses they cannot see. They have cataracts. Then they say, "O we have to take that one out and put new for you in order for you to see.’ That means, “O corrupted ones, come to the doctor. In order to take that blindness from you, you need ot come to a doctor the take that blindness from you. Without a guide you will never take away that corruption.

Allah is guiding us to those guides who carry the message of Sayyidina Muhammad (s).

He said, "When he was asked, to when O my shaykh is that blindness to disappear?” he said, "You have to be between the hands of a doctor and you have to show… tuhsin dhannak feehi. You have to trust Him and you don’t doubt Him.” [It means:] “You have to take your children and sit at this door waiting from him to come to you and accept you in.”

One person came to a wali and said, "O my shaykh! Accept me at your door. He said, “What I have to accept you. He said to be like these ones, the mureeds.” He is jumping to be at high level.

Mureed is high level as we said before we are all lovers we are not yet mureeds.

He said, "I cannot accept you as mureed.”

He sad, what about these. He said, they never reached level of mureeds, all of them .

He said, " then what you want to accept me as?” so the mureed was thinking how to humiliate himself to make the shaykh happy with him. He said, "O my shaykh accept me as a donkey at your door.” For what, I am riding all of them.

“Donkey” here means patience. “Teach patience. Accept me as only a means to bring out for me that character of patience; to dress my heart. Then I will be patient on my bros and sisters. Then I will be patient on the afflictions in my life, and then I wont nag too much.

He said, “No I have too many of that,” and he was thinking and thinking. That was Grandshaykh story and Mawlana Shaykh’s story. And then he said, "Accept me as a dog at your door. “

You know that the dog is important for hunters, you cannot go hunting without a dog. That is why in Islam a dog is accepted for hunting. Because the dog at the door of the shaykh will bring the prey and the shaykh will immediately catch it.

So it means the one who has been give permission or the one who is so hard worker, they get more people, dragging them to the shaykh in order that the shaykh will clean them.

So it means “Accept me at your door in order to make me loyal and sincere.”

And he was trying as much as possible to bring himself down in order to be accepted at shaykh’s door. [saying:] “Don’t leave me blind, O my shaykh!”

That perfects la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah illa-Allah, so that it comes with action. When the shaykh accepts you, you have to accept his sour medicine. Because there are sicknesses that they have medicine for them today but they are very sour. Doctor! Is that correct? Sour in what? [in taste] In taste? Not only in taste. But they are very sour in treatment. Like today they give today chemotherapy. That is a very sour medical treatment. That makes the people suffer more than the cancer itself. But at the end with Allah swt’s cure it will give some good result. So he is saying, “You have to be patient on his medication that he will give to you because it is going to be very sour.”

[It means:] “Don’t run away you are already a patient. You have a spiritual cancer that makes our heart dead, that makes your spirit dead.”

He wants to rejuvenate the positive energy in your soul. He has to give you big spoonfuls of that sour medicine.

Grandshaykh, may Allah bless his soul, used to say that “When you enter tariqah don’t think you are entering to find peace.”

The Prophet (s) said, لا راحة فى الدين "la rahata feed-deen - There is no relaxation in religion.” you are always going to suffer because you have to be patient and carry more and more, more and more.

He said, “[it is] like one person, who was in the jungle…” Just as we are all in the jungle of this world. The world is like a jungle. All of it is like wild characters, wild animals surrounding us.

[so he said,] "Like someone in the jungle, and someone… and these hyenas come on him. And he is on a high cliff.”

What he will do? He wants to run away from them. So he is standing on the cliff and they jump on him and what happens? He falls all the way down in the valley. And they go down. To do what? To eat him and to bite him.

He said, “When someone enters tariqah he is going to fall from the cliff all the way down and then all these hyenas will bite him, bite him and bite him, until he is completely dead. That is tariqah. You like it, enter.”

They didn’t show us all this [yet]. They are only playing with us, giving us candies.

They want you to fall from that cliff of egoism and they want to bring you down. They send all of what Allah gave them of power, very fierceful power, to cut you in pieces until you submit completely to Allah’s will and the Prophet’s will. They are not bringing you in to keep feeding you and feeding you and feeding you.

Tariqah today is candy compared to what it was before. People today are different they run away. Before they will not run from the door of the shaykh. Even they see all kinds of problems . they don’t say, what will I have for tomorrow. Today people all ask, “What do I have for tomorrow?”

Life is what you can face today of difficulties. The Prophet (s) said, “I am the most who was abused and tortured from my tribe” and he is the Prophet (s).”

So tariqah is to take that blindness out. To take that cancer out; to take that wild characters out. To make you to say la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah. We are asking Allah for the sake of Sayyidina Muhammad (s) and for sake of our shuyukh to take that imitational, when we say la ilaha illa-Allah muhammadun Rasulullah to turn it into a real one with action and with power. Because when a wali says la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah he shakes the heart it if he wants. So when he says it, it takes kufr away. When a mu’min says it, he takes the kufr of himself out and he feels it like an earthquake.

When you say la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah you have to feel that sword coming from your belly and going across the right side and coming over the left side where the heart is, cutting the ego in half and it will shake it like an earthquake. May Allah show us the reality of la ilaha illa-Allah Muhammadun Rasulullah, Wa min Allah at-tawfeeq bi hurmatil Fatiha.

At noon here. Dhuhr and subhat. And evening at the masjid, maybe for food.
